The school’s procedure for fixtures:
The pupils invited to be part of a team are approached by the teacher, and the team sheet is completed with details of the team, where the fixture is, whether to leave lesson early, and expected time of finish. The pupils then tick against their name to agree they will take part.
It is the pupils’ responsibility to bring their PE kit although they will usually be issued with a school team top for the game. They also are responsible for letting parents/guardians know pick up times.
When the team is leaving for the fixture, the list is checked again to ensure no changes and a copy is left at sports reception and another at the main school reception. The school also notes which teacher is in charge, which minibus they are driving and contact details.
On the sports college website we list all the fixtures for the week. These are updated each Monday for the coming week.
The Angmering school competes against schools in a wide area, so consideration needs to be given to travelling time. Depending on whether a match or tournament is being played, and how successful the team is – how far they go in a tournament, determines the length of time of the fixture. The teacher needs to take these things into consideration when arranging a pick up time. If a fixture is running late, the team is given access to a mobile phone to let parents know.
There are differences with Year 7 sport to other years:
• There is no set day for sport – teachers arrange fixtures with other schools and these can be at short notice
• Middle schools with Year 7 tend to finish earlier than Angmering, so our team may need to leave period 5 early
